• Ted Botha's The Girl with the Crooked Nose has hit bookstores in America to rave reviews, including a fantastic write-up in Newsweek! Botha's book tells the story of Frank Bender, a gifted artist who, through the art of macabre sculpting, has been the key to solving at least nine murders and tracking down numerous criminals. Mexican authorities have turned to Bender to help in solving the infamous murders of young Mexican women in Juárez.


• The Ryan Hotel Group continues its expansion in Queensland, Australia - adding two more hotels to its fold. The group already owns The Granville, White Bull, Grinning Dog, Del Plaza, The Central, The Woombye and The Duporth Tavern in Queensland.
  


• Fiona Gibson, successful UK author of The Fishfinger Years, Lucky Girl, Wonderboy, Babyface and most recently of Mummy said the f-word has launched a brilliant blog, peppered with her usual wit and insight. You can read it by clicking here.


• South African social networking site SAReunited has joined the Facebook revolution & now offers free contacting. The site currently has over 740,000 members and is South Africa's main reuniting website.


• UK travel writer & photographer Lisa Young has just completed a stint as a 'jillaroo' in Australia so her photos tie in beautifully with Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming Australia (starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, and due for release in November 2008). Although, in typical freelance travel journalism fashion, Lisa has already flown to Spain and Outer Mongolio since touching down in London from her Australian photographic trip.


• The Gold Coast's Main Beach launched its new website on 1 July 2008 at Shuck Bar in Tedder Avenue. The new Main Beach website covers everything anyone - from locals to holidaymakers - needs to know about Main Beach's restaurants, accommodation, boutique shopping and all other Main Beach facilities. The site also uses RSS feeds to provide up-to-date Main Beach weather and surf reports, and Gold Coast news.


• Susan Ward has launched Gardens Inc - landscape and gardening services in London. Susan/Ziggi was the recipient of the winner's Award for Exceptional Achievement on the HND Garden design, 2007. Her new gardening venture will provide a comprehensive garden design service which can be tailor made to Londoner's individual garden needs. (Gardens Inc does provide garden design services to other areas of the UK, but it based primarily in London).
